These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the website located at ilgriefcenter.com (the "Website") and the grief counseling and mental health services provided by Illinois Grief Center, operated under Palo Wellness LLC ("we," "us," "our"). By accessing our Website or engaging our services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our Website or services.
Illinois Grief Center is a telehealth grief counseling practice operated by Palo Wellness LLC, a limited liability company registered in the State of Illinois. Our clinical services are provided by Melissa Young, LCPC, NBCC, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor licensed by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (License #180017691). Our principal address is 742 Woodbine Avenue, Oak Park, IL 60302.
Illinois Grief Center provides virtual grief counseling and bereavement support services to adolescents, adults, and seniors across the State of Illinois. Our services are delivered exclusively through secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platforms. We do not provide in-person services at this time.
Free Consultations: We offer a free 15-minute consultation to new clients. This consultation is for informational purposes only and does not establish a therapeutic relationship. No clinical diagnosis, treatment plan, or therapeutic intervention is provided during a consultation.
A website inquiry or free consultation request does not establish a therapist-client relationship. If services are appropriate, a therapist-client relationship begins after intake paperwork, informed consent, and acceptance into care are completed.
Clinical Services: Clinical grief counseling services are provided only after a formal intake process and the signing of an informed consent agreement. All clinical services are subject to the terms outlined in the informed consent document, which will be provided to you at the start of treatment.
Our clinical services are available only to individuals who are physically located within the State of Illinois at the time of each telehealth session. By engaging our services, you confirm that you are a resident of or physically present in Illinois during all sessions. We are not licensed to provide clinical services in any other state.
You must be at least 18 years of age to engage our services. For clients under 18, a parent or legal guardian must provide written consent and be involved in the treatment process as required by Illinois law.
Session fees are as follows:
Payment is expected at the time of service. We accept major credit cards, HSA/FSA cards, and insurance billing through our participating insurance networks. For out-of-network clients, we can provide a superbill for reimbursement purposes. Fees are subject to change with 30 days' written notice.
We require a minimum of 24 hours' notice for appointment cancellations or rescheduling. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to a fee equal to 50% of the session rate. No-shows (failure to attend a scheduled session without notice) will be charged the full session fee.
We understand that emergencies and unforeseen circumstances occur and will work with you on a case-by-case basis. If you are experiencing a technical difficulty during a telehealth session, please contact us immediately.
All clinical sessions are conducted via secure, HIPAA-compliant video conferencing platforms. By participating in telehealth sessions, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
All information shared during sessions is confidential and protected under HIPAA and Illinois state law (740 ILCS 110/). Your therapist will not disclose any information about your treatment without your written consent, except in the following circumstances:
For a complete description of our privacy practices, please see our Privacy Policy.
Illinois Grief Center does not provide emergency or crisis services. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency or are in crisis between sessions, please:
Your therapist is not available for emergency contact outside of scheduled sessions. We strongly encourage all clients to have a crisis plan in place.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Illinois Grief Center and Palo Wellness LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use our Website or services. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or our services shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
Under Illinois law, mental health records must be retained for a minimum of 7 years after the last date of service (or 10 years for minor clients, until 3 years after the client reaches the age of majority). Records cannot be deleted or destroyed before the retention period expires, regardless of any request to the contrary.
Either party may terminate the therapeutic relationship at any time. We recommend a termination session to process the ending of therapy and ensure you have appropriate resources and support in place. If therapy is terminated due to non-payment or policy violations, we will provide referrals for continued care.
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you through our Website or by other appropriate means. Your continued use of our Website and services after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Illinois. Any disputes arising from these Terms or our services shall be resolved in the courts of Cook County, Illinois.
